Here's an interesting tidbit. On December 8th in history: 1542: Mary Queen Of Scots was born. 1776: George Washington's retreating army crosses the Delaware from New Jersey. 1872: American Federation Of Labor (AFL) is formed. 1925: Sammy Davis Jr. was born. 1941: As a result of the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States and Australia declare war on Japan. 1972: A jetliner crashes at Chicago's Midway Airport, killing 48 people. 1991: The Soviet Union is demolished, with the forming of 'The Commonwealth Of Independant States'. 1993: Dow Jones hits record high of 3734.53.
On his trips to England, Sammy Davis Jr. would adopt a supposedly perfect British accent, and would maintain it till he got back to the states. A very interesting person indeed!
